Danikk Labradors started in 1971, with the original spelling as "Danick." In 1988, Danikk became an AKC-registered kennel name. This designation limits the "Danikk" name usage to dogs bred by Danikk Kennels. Danikk must give written permission to use the name. Danikk is run and managed by veterinarians Dr. Fran Smith and Dr. John Lawrence.
Danikk is well-known internationally for quality Labrador retrievers. Labrador puppies from Danikk have excelled as show, obedience, hunting, and performance dogs. You and your Danikk Labrador will enjoy any dog sports you want to try. Of course, with their wonderful temperaments, our Labrador puppies also make excellent household and family pets.
The original Danikk Labrador was bred to a conformation show champion. She produced a conformation champion in her first litter CH Danick's Bonnie Babe. CH Danick's Bonnie Babe was bred to the famous CH Shamrock Acres Light Brigade late in his life, and produced 14 puppies, beginning the Danikk legacy.
Frances 0. Smith, DVM, the founder of Danikk Labradors, has been involved in the sport of purebred dogs since 1956. She grew up with German Shepherd Dogs and Pomeranians. She was involved in Junior Handling in the Midwest in the late 1950s and 1960s. Fran's first Labrador Retriever arrived on the scene in 1971. This was a field trial bred dog, and Fran discovered a new world.
